Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z coming to next-generation consoles, says developer Spark Unlimited
The Ninja Gaiden spin-off coming from Team Ninja, Keiji Inafune's Comcept, Spark Unlimited and Tecmo Koei is bound for next-generation consoles (and the PC) according to the co-developer of Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z.
In a job listing for a senior designer position posted to Spark Unlimited's website spotted by IGN , Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is described as a "third-person action shooter on next generation consoles." Another opening for a senior FX artist modifies the genre description slightly, referring to it as a third-person "action slasher with horror elements." Spark says Yaiba's particle effects aim to "capture the graphic quality of effects in anime," which early screenshots of the game attest to.
A third newly-listed position calls Yaiba a "high profile next-generation property" and notes that the game will feature multiplayer modes and co-op functionality.
Team Ninja unveiled Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z at a pre-Tokyo Game Show event in September. Spark Unlimited says it has been doing pre-production work on the title since November 2011.
The collaboration between the Ninja Gaiden team and Dead Rising and Onimusha producer Keiji Inafune was announced without a release date or target platforms.
