LEGO The Lord of the Rings developer diary balances respect and irreverence
In a developer diary released today for LEGO The Lord of the Rings, developers from TT Games discuss the act of balancing respect for the venerated franchise with LEGO-inspired irreverence.
In the video, the developers talk about blending the emotion of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic story with the lighthearted nature of LEGO games, which they've tried to accomplish through animation. For example, each character has dozens of facial animations. The video also showcases several of Middle-earth's historic places and events, including the Shire, the fires of Mount Doom, and dwarf tossing at Helm's Deep.
LEGO The Lord of the Rings sets off on its unexpected journey October 30th on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, and Windows PC. Check out the video above for a tour through Middle-earth LEGO style.
