The Elder Scrolls Online screenshots reveal an ancient world

The Elder Scrolls Online, the upcoming massively multiplayer online take on the Elder Scrolls universe, is the subject of 14 new screenshots, which give us our first look at some of the the heroes, monsters, and locations in the ancient world.

Announced earlier this year, developer ZeniMax Studios Online began production on The Elder Scrolls Online in 2007 with a team of 250. It will be set 1,000 years in the past, and will allow players to team up in groups of up to to 100 players.

The Elder Scrolls Online is set for a 2013 release, according to an FAQ on the game's official website. Check out the Elder Scrolls universe of 1,000 years ago in the gallery above.
