PlanetSide 2 developers taking action against aimbot users

PlanetSide 2 developer Sony Online Entertainment is aware of players cheating with aimbots, and "will continue to be extremely aggressive in detecting and banning players who use cheats," reports PCGamesN.

As illustrated in the video above, an aimbot allows a PlanetSide 2 player to look down his sights as soon as an enemy is in view, while the bot does the rest — immediately focusing the crosshairs on the foe's head. In addition, the hack makes other players' usernames, health and distance show up, which allows the aimbot user to surprise unsuspecting players and take them down before they know what hit them.

"[Sony Online Entertainment] takes player use of in-game cheats very seriously," said Sony Online Entertainment representative Taina Rodriguez. "Players who use cheats ruin the gameplay experience for the entire community."

PlanetSide 2 is currently in beta, and is set for release on PC on Nov. 20, with a Mac OS X version planned to launch at a later date.
