The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct offers fans a chance to appear, be murdered by zombies in-game

Activision and AMC are holding a contest that will put a group of lucky fans of The Walking Dead into the upcoming video game currently in development at Terminal Reality. Previously known as The Walking Dead Video Game, the first-person shooter is now officially titled The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct.

According to a release from AMC, clues for the online contest will be revealed during new episodes of The Walking Dead television series, beginning this Sunday, Oct. 28. The winners of that contest will have their facial likeness used to create unique in-game characters who will die in The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. Players will be able to uncover each winner's backstory and death scene in-game. The Survival Instinct contest announcement teases a "special challenge" to track down all of the contest winners in-game.

Each season three episode between now and Sunday, Dec. 2 offers a chance to win an in-game appearance.

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, developed by Bloodrayne and Ghostbusters: The Video Game studio Terminal Reality, lets players control crossbow-wielding survivor Daryl Dixon and his brother Merle on their journey to a zombie-infested Atlanta. The first-person shooter promises scarce resources and ample undead and living enemies.

The Activision-published game is scheduled for release in 2013 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
