Details of Defiler, a new character class for MMORPG Rift were revealed by developer Trion Worlds in a post offering both lore and a class description on the official Storm Legion expansion website.

The Defiler Soul is said to be able to "intercept, prevent and heal" through the means of "staggering" damage dealing, according to Trion. Defilers deal damage at range, while "spreading corruption and torment through infectious bonds." However, the Defiler's heals are described as its primary weakness, as they are not know for their "cosmetic appeal," suggesting there is a visual side effect to every heal.

Defiler joins Harbinger, Tempest, and Tactician as playable classes in the upcoming Storm Legion expansion, which is scheduled to release Nov. 13. The Storm Legion open beta begins at 1 p.m. ET on Nov. 2, and ends on 11 a.m. ET on Nov. 5.
