The Simpsons: Tapped Out gets spooky with Treehouse of Horror update

The Simpsons: Tapped Out received a Halloween-themed update recently bringing the series' annual Treehouse of Horror to iOS.

The developers at Electronic Arts worked with the show's artists and writers to bring authentic horror to the Springfield-themed simulation game. The free update includes characters like Devil Flanders and Marge the Witch, buildings like the Springfield Cemetery filled with escaping zombies, and new quests.

Tapped Out was released in March for iOS and pulled shortly thereafter because of overwhelming demand on the game's servers. EA apologized for the delay and announced its return at Gamescom 2012.

The episode on which the update is based, "Treehouse of Horror XXIII," airs Sunday October 10th on Fox. You can check out images from the update, none of which include the Supper Fun Happy Slide, in the gallery below.
