The Mechromancer – the fifth playable class in Borderlands 2 – is now available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, a week earlier than expected.

The downloadable character, whose online skill tree was also released today, was initially planned for October 16th. It is currently available for download for $9.99 or 800 Microsoft Points. Those who pre-ordered the game at participating retailers will receive the download for free.

Polygon has been informed by 2K Games that it may take a while for the character download to be available in different regions, but it is expected that North America will have access to the Mechromancer on all three platforms on October 9th.
