Gran Turismo 5 gets free, still secret Corvette C7 Test Prototype
PlayStation 3 owners can test drive the still secret Corvette C7 Test Prototype in Gran Turismo 5 starting today, Sony and Chevrolet have announced. The free add-on gives driving enthusiasts an opportunity to drive the prototype Corvette C7 before the sports car has been officially revealed to the public.
The Corvette C7 Test Prototype available in Gran Turismo 5 is heavily camouflaged, designed to conceal the car's design elements, associate product manager Ken Chan wrote on the PlayStation Blog. The virtual car is wrapped in fabric and painted with a geometric texture to keep the new Corvette's visuals under wraps until Jan. 13, 2013, when Chevrolet plans to unveil the C7 officially.
"Until now, only a handful of the most skilled drivers on the Corvette team have been authorized to push the test prototype to the limits on the most challenging tracks in the world, including the infamous Nurburgring Nordschleife — one of the core testing grounds for C7's driving dynamics," Chan writes, encouraging PS3 owners to test drive the in-game prototype on Gran Turismo 5's Nurburgring Nordschleife track and post their best times to Facebook.
The 2014 Corvette is currently available for download in the PlayStation Store.
