Steam now accepts payments in Brazilian Reais
Brazilian gamers can now purchase games on Steam using their local currency, the Brazilian Reais, the company announced today.
Payments using the Brazilian Reais will initially be available via Boleto, which is a Brazilian payment method that involves a merchant, issuer bank, payee and collectors. In addition to Boleto, more local payment options are expected to be made available via the BoaCompra, such as deposits, account transfers, PagSeguro and local credit cards.
Brazilian Steam Wallets that currently have US dollars will automatically be converted in Reais at a market value dictated by the market value at the time of conversion. No changes have been made to the contents of a player's library or to any games they purchased prior to the introduction of the Reais.
