Assassin's Creed 3 combat partly choreographed by MMA fighter
Some of the hand-to-hand fighting in Assassin's Creed 3 was designed by Andrew "The Squid" Montañez, a mixed martial arts teacher.
Montañez demonstrates some of the moves used by Assassin's Creed 3 protagonist in an episode of The Surge, the YouTube series on MMA techniques that he hosts. The Los Angeles-based fighter has previous experience doing fight choreography for films, TV shows and games. He encourages viewers to try the moves at home — just don't bring a tomahawk to an MMA fight.
Assassin's Creed 3 is now available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360; it is set for release on Wii U on Nov. 18 and PC on Nov. 20.
