Marvel Heroes will feature an ongoing story

Marvel Heroes, Gazillion Entertainment's free-to-play massively multiplayer online game set within the Marvel universe, will feature a continually growing story, according to the latest developer diary.

Players will adventure through different locations in the Marvel universe as they work to stop Doctor Doom from destroying the world with the Cosmic Cube. Although the game will first drop small clues about his plans, events will eventually build upon the larger plotline.

"We chose [Doctor Doom] because he not only is the most iconic Marvel villain, but he's also a character that would be able to put together a plan as elaborate as the story in the game," chief writer Michael Bendis said. After the game goes live, writers will continue to build upon the story.

Marvel Heroes is the first MMO with permission to use the entire Marvel universe. The game currently features more than 25 playable characters, including Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Wolverine and more.

The game is currently in closed beta. You can register for a chance to enter the beta on the game's website.
