Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn's crafting and gathering demoed on video

Life in Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn isn't just about summoning city-sized dragons and yelling "Curaga" all over town — as seen in the game's latest gameplay video, sometimes, it's about cutting down trees for your woodworking projects.

Lumberjacking and woodworking are just two of the professions in A Realm Reborn, which, when used in tandem, allow players to create wooden items like spears and bows. Players can locate harvestable trees in the environment using a number of triangulation skills, then choose which items they hope to take from the tree; the more valuable the item, the harder it is to harvest.

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn is currently in its alpha testing phase, with beta tests expected to begin soon. The game will launch next year on PC and PlayStation 3.
