Steam Game Guides beta allows players to help players

Steam's new Game Guides beta allows members of the Steam Community Beta to create and share game guides with other players, according to a post published today in the New Steam Community Beta Discussions group.

To create a guide, aspiring authors need to join the Steam Community Beta and hop onto a game's hub. The option to create the guide lives in a button on the Guides tab. Alden Kroll, a user interface designer at Valve, created a Portal 2 guide (pictured above) to illustrate how they work.

The Game Guides beta is part of the larger Steam Community Update, which Valve unveiled earlier this year. The Update makes user interface changes, including the hubs on which the game guides appear.
