Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable release date moved up to Jan. 8

Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable, the PlayStation Vita port of the 2007 Xbox 360 third-person alien bug shooter, is headed to PlayStation Vita on Jan. 8, 2013, according to a press release from D3 Publisher.

The game will come to the PlayStation Store as a digital download a month earlier than its previously reported February launch. The remastered port includes seven new levels and a new multiplayer mode that supports up to four player online co-op. The Sandlot-developed Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable will retail for $39.99.

A sequel, EDF 2025 (known in Japan as Earth Defense Force 4) is headed to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2013. You can check out our hands-on with the sequel from the Tokyo Game Show here.
