Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee HD now available on PSN for $9.99, coming to PS Vita 'early next year'

Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee HD, the high-definition remake of Oddworld Inhabitants' 3D platformer, is now available on PlayStation 3 in North America for $9.99 on PlayStation Network, developer Just Add Water announced today.

The remake had previously been announced for a release in "late December." According to Just Add Water CEO Stewart Gilray, a PlayStation Vita version of Munch's Oddysee HD will be released "early next year." There's no word yet on whether the game will support Sony's PS3/Vita Cross Buy promotion.

The PSN release brings the game full circle, more than a decade after its release. Munch's Oddysee was originally announced for PlayStation 2; the series' first two games, Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exodus, launched on PlayStation and Windows PC. However, the game was instead released exclusively on Xbox as one of the console's launch titles, and this HD remake marks the first time it will be available on a PlayStation platform.

For the HD remake, Just Add Water outfitted Munch's Oddysee with high-resolution textures, new audio, controls designed for the DualShock 3 and 46 Trophies.

Munch's Oddysee HD launched on the European PlayStation Store last week.
