PlayStation Plus update brings NBA Jam: On Fire Edition free to subscribers as Holiday Essentials sale winds down

A Dec. 31 update to PlayStation Plus brought NBA Jam: On Fire Edition and Chronovolt free to Plus subscribers amid the final week of the Holiday Essentials sale, according to a post on the PlayStation Blog.

Released in Oct. 2011, NBA Jam: On Fire Edition's arcade basketball action is regularly $19.99 for PlayStation 3 owners. Chronovolt, a steampunk-influenced puzzle platformer from Playerthree, released in December and offers gameplay reminiscent of Marble Madness for the PlayStation Vita. PlayStation Plus subscribers can download both for free.

The free games appear in addition to the remaining PlayStation Network Holiday Essentials deals that include discounts on the following games:

  • AR Play for $6.25, or $4.38 for Plus members, normally $8.94
  • Assassin's Creed 2 Deluxe Edition for $13.99, or $9.80 for Plus members, normally $19.99
  • Batman: Arkham City for $20.99, or $14.70 for Plus members, normally, $29.99
  • Bulletstorm for $13.99, or $9.80 for Plus members, normally $19.99
  • Infamous 2 for $13.99, or free for Plus members, normally $19.99
  • Infamous: Festival of Blood for $6.99, or $4.90 for Plus members, normally $9.99
  • Lumines Electronic Symphony for $24.99, or $17.49 for Plus members, normally $35.99
  • Shadow of the Colossus for $13.99, or $9.80 for Plus members, normally $19.99
  • Skullgirls for $10.49, or $7.35 for Plus members, normally $14.99
  • Sound Shapes for PlayStation 3 for $10.49, or $7.35 for Plus members, normally $14.99
  • Sound Shapes for PlayStation Vita for $10.49, or $7.35 for Plus members, normally $14.99
  • Tokyo Jungle for $10.49, or $7.35 for Plus members, normally $14.99
  • Touch My Katamari for $17.99, or $8.57 for Plus members, normally $24.99

Each game is discounted between 30 and 50 percent for the sale that runs through Jan. 7.
