Portal short film creator tapped for feature-length Y: The Last Man adaptation

Dan Trachtenberg, creator of the acclaimed 2011 Portal-themed short film No Escape has been chosen to direct the feature-length film adaptation of Brian K. Vaughn's Y: The Last Man series of graphic novels, Vulture reports.

An adaptation for Vaughn's novels, which tell the story of a mysterious plague which kills every living male on Earth — save for escape artist Yorick and his pet monkey Ampersand — has been in the works for years. Vulture learned four months ago that the film had become "a priority" at New Line Cinema, and today revealed Trachtenberg's involvement with the film. Trachtenberg later confirmed the reports on Twitter.

Trachtenberg's main claim to fame is No Escape, a seven-minute short set in the Portal universe, which is posted above. Y: The Last Man will be his first feature-length film, though no release window for the movie has been set.
