Velocity remake coming to Vita as Velocity Ultra
Velocity Ultra, a PlayStation Vita remake of FuturLab's PlayStation Mini shooter Velocity, is headed to the portable console this year, according to a post from James Marsden, FururLab's managing director, on the PlayStation Blog.
The Vita version brings graphical upgrades like lighting effects that the previous version wasn't powerful enough to deliver. FuturLab also remade many of the game's art assets at the Vita's native resolution and is "ditching pixel art in favor of the edgy cartoon style." The new version will also contain trophy support and online leaderboards.
You can check out a gameplay video for the Mini version avove, which the developers created "to do justice to the nostalgia of early games in the shoot ‘em-up genre." Marsden is "guesstimating a release date in May" for Velocity Ultra.
