Microsoft's Games with Gold promotion, in which Xbox Live Gold subscribers get access to free games each month as part of their membership, is coming to Xbox One, according to the company.
Xbox Live director of programming Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb says details on how Microsoft will implement Games with Gold on Xbox One are coming "later in 2014." On Xbox 360, Microsoft has been giving away two downloadable games each month to Xbox Live Gold subscribers.
Microsoft announced its Games with Gold promotion in June, promising free downloads of titles like Halo 3, Assassin's Creed 2, Fable 3 and more. In October, Microsoft said it would extend the promotion as an "ongoing benefit" for Xbox Live Gold subscribers.
Sony Computer Entertainment offers a similar service through its PlayStation Plus membership, giving subscribers free access to downloadable games and discounts on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. That benefit will extend to PlayStation 4 starting this week, giving subscribers free access to downloadable PS4 games Resogun and Contrast.
