Beta access for 7 Grand Steps: What Ancients Begat, indie developer Mouschief's latest title, is available now for $9.99 through the Humble Store.

7 Grand Steps is a three-way combination of board game, interactive narrative and historical simulation. The game has text vignettes equal to the length of two novels and includes dozens of generations over four social classes. Check out the video above for a look at gameplay.

Those who purchase the game now not only receive the discounted price from its usual $15 tag, but also the full version free when it is released. Buyers should note that though the game's content is complete, 7 Steps is not fully finished and might not work to its fullest extent.

The official launch for 7 Grand Steps: What Ancients Begat is expected in the spring. According to Mousechief, with each monthly release, the game's price will rise by a dollar. The game is available on both Mac and Windows PC.
