Mortal Kombat Komplete: Edition receives R18+ classification in Australia

Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition will see an Australian release with an R18+ rating, according to the Australian Classification Board website.

Warner Bros. submitted Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition to the Board last month for classification, as Mortal Kombat received a Refused Classification rating from the Board in 2011.

This was because the Australian classification system for video games at the time was capped at MA +15, meaning games indented for adult audiences were banned from sale in the continent.

The new Australian classification system for video games came into effect Jan 1, 2013 and now includes an R18+ classification.
