Assassin's Creed 3: The Tyranny of King Washington launch trailer sets the stage for an alternate history

The first episode of the Assassin's Creed 3 add-on campaign The Tyranny of King Washington, "The Infamy," is available today, and it's launch trailer hints at the heavy burden our hero must face.

The trailer posted above depicts an alternate ending to the American Revolution, an outcome in which the famously heroic and upstanding George Washington chose to keep his presidency and warp it into a kingship. Ratohnhaké:ton must take down a Washington unlike the one we know from history books: one mad, aggressive and hungry for power.

Players will pit our assassin hero against the man he once fought for in another timeline, turning his blades against a distorted version of his ally in this alternate timeline campaign.

The second episode of The Tyranny of King Washington, "The Betrayal," will be released on March 19. The final episode, "The Redemption," will be available on April 23.
