OpenFeint co-founder launches private beta for mobile dev service, OpenKit
Peter Relan, co-founder of the now defunct social platform OpenFeint, has launched a new service called OpenKit in light of the closure, Develop Online reports.
OpenFeint was a third-party social network platform for iOS and Android devices that closed in December of last year. OpenKit, created for mobile developers, is a source data platform that offers leaderboards, achievements, cloud storage and more.
"Today we are unveiling the momentum of support behind OpenKit, with the goal of providing all important mobile backend services for mobile game developers," Relan said. "Even iOS developers who have access to Game Center services today, recognize the importance of cross platform development for Android ... OpenKit is a single API and service across iOS and Android."
OpenKit will be available through Apache and AGPL. A beta is currently underway with 50 developers, and full production is expected to begin in March.
