Magicka: Wizards of the Square Tablet announced, coming to iOS and Android tablets
Magicka is coming to "largely rectangular tablets" this year in Magicka: Wizards of the Square Tablet, an iOS and Android title that offers co-op gameplay across both platforms, publisher Paradox Interactive announced today.
The mobile title is being made not by Magicka developer Arrowhead Game Studios, but by Ludosity, the studio behind the 2010 PC title Bob Came in Pieces and the 2012 3DS game Boulder Dash XL 3D. Arrowhead originally launched Magicka in 2011.
Wizards of the Square Tablet offers a cutesy, cartoony take on Magicka's relatively realistic art style, although according to Paradox, it retains the rest of what made that game stand out: four-player co-op action, spellcasting, a sense of humor and "robes of every imaginable hue." Players on iOS and Android will be able to play with each other, and both versions will offer their own unique powers. The campaign will also be playable solo.
Check out four screenshots above, and a live-action trailer with some gameplay footage below. Magicka: Wizards of the Square Tablet is set for release in 2013.
