The 2D/3D puzzle platformer Contrast will be playable at PAX East as part of the Indie Megabooth, Compulsion Games announced today.
"We chose to be part of the PAX East Indie Megabooth in order to give back to the amazing community that has helped support the game during our successful Greenlight campaign on Steam," said Guillaume Provost, creative director and founder of Compulsion Games. "We began development on Contrast four years ago and are excited to finally unveil it to the public.
"Contrast will transport players into a vaudevillian world of shadows and mysteries, where story elements are discovered through the manipulation of light, and it introduces new gameplay paradigms for interacting and navigating the world."
The independent-developed title is set in a surreal 1920s dreamscape filled with cabaret singers, circus performers and illusionists. Players take on the role of Dawn who is tasked with helping a mysterious girl called Didi.
Gameplay gives players the freedom to move in and out of shadows and to manipulate them using light sources. A new character design for Dawn and a look at the ability to shift between a 3D landscape and a 2D "shadowscape" is showcased in the updated teaser trailer below.
