Live is about to receive a new wave of entertainment apps and updates this week, including a free movie streaming service, according to Microsoft's Major Nelson's blog.
Popcornflix allows those with an Xbox Live Gold Subscription to stream films at no additional cost. The free streaming service is U.S. only.
IndieFlix is a film service that features international independent movies, shorts, documentaries, animation and web series. It is available to users in United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand.
The U.S.-only Toys "R" Us Movies gives families access to hundreds of family-friendly movies and TV shows for rental and purchase. Users can search content by age appropriateness or by TV and movie character.
The new Xbox SmartGlass for Game of Thrones Season 3 allows viewers to use their tablet to unlock content, such as interactive maps, character guides, cast and crew commentaries and behind-the-scenes extras. The feature is also only available to Xbox Live members in the U.S..
MLB.TV Refresh gives users access to 1,430 Major League Baseball games live or on-demand, including game highlights and recaps. The app can be tailored to users favorite teams, so it will feature those team's live games, clips, highlights and game recaps each time it is launched. The app is available in United States, United Kingdom, France, Australia, Germany, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Japan, Ireland, New Zealand, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Brazil, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Singapore, Russia, Poland, Colombia, Chile, South Africa and Czech Republic.
Gamers in the United States, Australia and Canada are now able to watch Revision 3 shows via Xbox Live. Revision 3 content includes apps, games, movies and technology shows. The app also features Kinect gesture and voice control integration.
Most of the new services are only available to those with an Xbox Live Gold subscription and additional fees will apply to most of the services.
