Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition surpasses six million downloads

4J Studios' Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition surpassed six million downloads, the developer announced on Twitter.

The Xbox 360 version launched worldwide on May 9 of last year and hit four million downloads a few months later in October.

Update 9, the next update for the console version, is currently in Microsoft Certification Test and is expected any day now.

"No news to report on TU9 Cert test yet. We will tell you when we have news, no need to keep asking! :)," the developer tweeted.

This week, publisher Egmont announced that four children's books based on Mojang's Minecraft will launch in the U.K. this September.
