Microsoft releases Kinect for Windows code samples under an open source license

Microsoft has released Kinect for Windows code samples under the open source Apache 2.0 license, it announced on an official developer blog today.

The 22 samples are in C#, C++, and Visual Basic and include Face Tracking, Skeletal Viewer, Slideshow Gestures, Speech Basics, Infrared Basics, Depth with Color, Basic Interactions and Green Screen.

Microsoft encourages the development community to give feedback on samples via CodePlex's feedback system. Also through CodePlex, Microsoft will be able to update samples faster and the community will have the ability to subscribe to code update notifications.

Requirements include Visual Studio 2010 or 2012, .NET 4.0 or 4.5, Kinect for Windows SDK and Kinect for Windows Toolkit.
