Skylanders Cloud Patrol free on iOS until April 10

Skylanders Cloud Patrol, a mobile companion app to the Skylanders video games, will be available for free on iOS until April 10, Activision's Dan Amrich announced on the One of Swords blog over the weekend.

To commemorate the one-year anniversary of the app's release, Activision is offering the touch-based shooting gallery-style game free of charge. The title, which typically costs $0.99, was similarly discounted last November. Activision also released the game on Amazon's Kindle Fire in September.

In Cloud Patrol, players scour the skies for renegade trolls, eradicating them in a shooter-style minigame. The app includes daily contests, cloud saves across both iOS devices and Kindle Fire and compatibility for achievements and friend lists through Activision's social networking service, Activate.

Cloud Patrol is also compatible with the full collection of Skylanders toy figurines, including those from the recently-released Giants installment. To import Giants characters, players must use the Portal of Power enabled with Bluetooth that comes with Skylanders Battlegrounds, another iOS app with Skylanders integration.
