April Fools: Dishonored's hidden gameplay systems

In a new video released by Bethesda Softworks today, the co-creative directors of Arkane Studios' Dishonored provide even more insight into the "Golden Cat" E3 gameplay walkthrough demo released last year. The content of the newly released — and strangely late — video will make sense, given it was published on April Fools' Day.

Watch as co-creative directors Raf Colantonio and Harvey Smith explain some of Dishonored's hidden systems, like the player's ability to possess a door or the optional nonviolent approach to dispatching guards by waiting for them to simply die of old age. Stick around for a deep dive into the potted plant simulation mechanics of Dishonored, which are surprisingly complex.

Listen carefully as Colantonio does his best to stealthily mask the sound of giggles and maintain his composure for extra laughs.
