Speed Run: Wii channels, expression in games, Volition

Achievement unlocked: First week of Speed Run.

OK, three days, but it's still a great credit to our Gamerscore.

Nintendo is discontinuing five Wii channels and the data exchange using WiiConnect24; the Wii Shop Channel and entertainment apps like Netflix and Hulu are still safe. Canabalt creator Adam Saltsman shared his opinion on the "empathy problem" in game development, saying we could learn things about expression from titles like Depression Quest and IGF winner Cart Life. We also chatted with Volition senior producer Jim Boone and design director Scott Phillips about the upcoming Saints Row 4 and the company's purchase by Koch Media in the THQ liquidation auction.
