Rayman Legends launching on 360, PS3 and Wii U Sept. 3 in North America (update)

Rayman Legends will be available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U on Sept. 3 in North America, in European territories on Aug. 29 and in the U.K. on Aug. 30, Ubisoft confirmed with Polygon today.

In February, Ubisoft announced the game was no longer a Wii U exclusive and would be published to PS3 and Xbox 360 as well. The company decided to delay the release of the Wii U version to fall 2013 so all three versions could launch simultaneously.

After fan backlash over the delay, Ubisoft announced a second Rayman Legends demo exclusively for Wii U owners, as well as exclusive access to the Online Challenges mode in April.

In a video message, the game's creators stated the response to the delay "definitely hurt" but allowed time to add more levels, characters and boss fights.

The Online Challenges mode is available today through the Wii U eShop. Check out the launch trailer for the content above.

Update: This post originally had the game's U.K. release date listed for its worldwide release date, which was inaccurate. We apologize for the error.
