Final Fantasy 14 beta on PC and PS3 begins this weekend

The third beta test for Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn will take place this weekend on Windows PC and PlayStation 3, Square Enix announced.

This is the first time the re-imagined title will be available for PlayStation 3 users in addition to PC users, and will feature cross-platform play. The beta will begin at 10 a.m. BST on Friday, then again on Sunday beginning at the same time.

Those who hope to participate in the PlayStation 3 beta need to apply on the official Final Fantasy 14 website; however, those who those who applied to become a PS3 tester for the initial version of Final Fantasy 14 will not need to apply again.

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn will launch on both platforms on Aug. 27.
