Watch Super Metroid reimagined as an old school anime

Artist Dave Rapoza has taken Super Metroid, Nintendo's classic 1994 adventure game for the SNES, and reimagined it as an animated series in his latest YouTube video.

The clip itself is less than a minute and a half, no more than a would-be teaser — but it's just long enough to get that familiar Super Metroid feel across. Watch as Samus lands on a dark planet and sets out on her mission. Our heroine encounters a deadly foe and battle ensues, all depicted on Rapoza's hand-drawn animation.

More of Rapoza's work — including a hefty amount of fanart and designs he has made for Riot Games, Bethesda and Magic the Gathering — can be found at his online portfolio.
