Wargaming.net is one step closer to creating a single universe of war games.
This week the company behind World of Tanks, World of Warplanes and World of Warships unified gamers' accounts across all three games.
"Unified account. Unified economics. Unified gaming universe," the company's website now reads. "Wargaming.net offers a unique world of online battles and ultimate struggle for global supremacy."
Wargaming.net's Victor Kislyi has long wanted to meld the different online worlds and accounts of his company into one entity. He talked about it with Polygon in 2012.
This is, perhaps, the most mundane element of that move, but also the most important. With the transition gamers will have access to all of Wargaming's games through a single login and a single portal. A player's OpenID authenticated account will also allow them easy access to partner and fan websites, according to the company's website.
As part of the unification, Wargaming also rolled out a program that lets players earn Premium time through World of Warplanes gameplay.
Existing tokens will be converted to Credits in that game and today will be the last day to use tokens to buy World of Warplane features in the open beta.
