Annual fighting game tournament Evo will take place at the LVH Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas from July 11-13 in 2014, Shoryuken announced today, revealing that Xbox 360 will be the tournament's main platform.
Evo is the largest fighting game tournament in the world, where fighters compete in a range tournaments from Super Smash Bros. Melee to Injustice: Gods Among Us to Super Street Fighter 4, which was won by DM MCZ Xian in the recent Evo 2013 grand finals. Founder and organizer Tom Cannon previously told Polygon that Evo 2013 was the tournament's biggest year yet. Evo 2013 broke viewership records on Twitch, with 1.7 million unique viewers watching the tournament's official livestream channels, with concurrent viewership peaking at 144,848 for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. According to Twitch, Evo 2013's viewership figures came in nearly 50 percent higher than Evo 2012, which was the previous record holder for a fighting game tournament.
