Adam Sandler's Pixels brings video games to the big screen on May 15, 2015

Adam Sandler's upcoming video game based film Pixels is hitting theatres on May 15, 2015, it was announced today.

The film, which is based on a popular YouTube short film of the same name, features old school game stars Frogger, Donkey-Kong and Pac-Man as they let loose in New York City, while a team of expert gamers are brought in to battle them.

Alongside its eight-bit characters, Pixels will feature human stars Sandler, Michelle Monaghan and Peter Dinklage. The film will be directed by Home Alone stalwart Chris Columbus.

Pixels launches on the same day as the Mad Max reboot Fury Road. A game based on the film is currently in development.
