Worms Battlegrounds launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One June 3

Worms Battlegrounds will be available to download for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One May 30 in the UK and June 3 in North America, Team 17 Digital announced today.

In Worms Battlegrounds, players suit up worm soldiers with their choice of weapons and items and attempt to eviscerate an opposing team. The game includes a level editor, single-player campaign with 25 story missions and 10 "Worm-Ops" time-attack missions, as well as multiplayer options for up to four in local and online battles. Multiplayer is available in modes such as Deathmatch and Classic.

Players can also create their own clan and emblem or join a friend's. By participating in matches and group activities, players earn community points to level and further grow their clans.

"A particularly cool thing is that if we were in a clan together we could — for the first time — play controlling the same team," Team 17 Digital representative Bethany Aston wrote on the PlayStation Blog. "I'd take control of two of the worms, and so would you."

Worms Battlegrounds was announced as one of the first Xbox One indie titles for Microsoft's ID@Xbox program. For more on the game, check out the trailer above.
