The Settlers: Kingdoms of Anteria ready to lay down roots in 2014

The Settlers have been erecting buildings and fighting incursions since 1993. And while the Blue Byte real-time strategy series has never really produced a smash hit, it's always commanded enough fans to keep coming back for more.

The Settlers: Kingdoms of Anteria was revealed today by publisher Ubisoft, with a scheduled 2014 release date. Although the company says the new game is "the most innovative Settlers' game we have ever created," actual details have yet to be revealed, including whether or not the game will follow 2012's The Settlers Online into the world of persistent free-to-play.

Polygon has contacted Ubisoft for more information.
