The Sims 4 to launch Sept. 2

The Sims 4 will launch on Sept. 2 for Windows PC and Mac, publisher Electronic Arts announced today at E3.

The game is the latest installment in EA's popular life simulator series. It was delayed last October and is now scheduled to launch in October 2014.

Pre-orders for the Limited Edition of the game are now available for $59.99 from the series' official website. An Origin-exclusive Digital Deluxe version is also available for $69.99 and includes the Up All Night digital content.

Players will be able to tweak a Sim's personality, voice, walk and more. Check out the game's character creation system in this gameplay video and Polygon's preview.

Correction: the original post said The Sims 4 will launch Sept. 7. The game will in fact launch Sept. 2
