World of Warcraft 10-year subscribers will get this statue as thanks from Blizzard

World of Warcraft subscribers who have been with the game since (very close to) day one, 10 years ago, are reporting that Blizzard is surprise-shipping them a rather elaborate statue as a gesture of thanks.

A comment attributed to Blizzard on the forums of MMO Champion says that the publisher will be sending "a physical gift to players who have been playing with us since the beginning." To be eligible, players must have created a World of Warcraft account within 60 days of the game's original launch in North America or Europe — Nov. 23, 2004 and Feb. 11, 2005, respectively.

While the message didn't specify what the gift would be, user Smitti on the Battle.net forums posted this image, saying that's it — a very detailed statue of an Orc riding a wolf. It is a replica of a 12-foot tall statue Blizzard erected outside its headquarters in Irvine, Calif. in 2009.

The statue has this note printed on its base:

warcraft statue base note

The orc statue is a constant presence in our life at Blizzard entertainment. It's where we meet to talk, to eat, to celebrate. As we celebrate ten years of World of warcraft, we present this token of appreciation to you, stalwart adventurer. Thank you for being a constant presence in our lives as we adventure together.

Players who are eligible for the gift should have received an email, at the address listed on the Battle.net accounts. Those who didn't get the email by now are probably not eligible for the reward.

To help you do the math, 60 days past Nov. 23, 2004 is Jan. 22, 2005; 60 days past Feb. 11, 2005 is April 12, 2005.
