The comic based on Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, which first appeared in the pages of Nintendo Power magazine, will be reprinted this year in a single volume collection from Viz Media's Perfect Square imprint, the publisher announced today.
The comic adaptation of the SNES game was illustrated by Shotaro Ishinomori, the celebrated manga artist who created Cyborg 009 and Kamen Rider. Ishinomori's comic ran in serialized format in Nintendo Power in 1992, and was collected in paperback form the following year. The long-out-of-print book translates A Link to the Past's plot to comic book form, adding a few twists, turns and new characters along the way.
Viz Media also publishes a series of manga adaptations of other The Legend of Zelda games, including Majora's Mask, Ocarina of Time, The Minish Cap and Phantom Hourglass, illustrated by Akira Himekawa. Those books are available individually or in a 10-book box set.
The reprint of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is expected to be released this May.
