People have been reacting to the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer on Twitter, on Facebook, on forums, and through YouTube videos.
While reaction videos aren't anything new, seeing the joy splash across people's faces as they witness Han Solo (Harrison Ford) talk to Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Finn (John Boyega) or Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) stare down at Darth Vader's melted helmet is a fun way to get a second perspective on the trailer.
Of course, the trailer has also spurred numerous parody reaction videos, focusing on people exaggerating their enthusiasm for the new footage, and while some are pretty funny, they're just not as endearing to watch as the authentic reactions from fans.
Here are five of the best reaction videos:
Chainsaw Reacts:
From beginning to end, this is the face of a man who's got nothing but the highest of hopes for the new film. He doesn't say much, but throughout the video he does clench his fists as tight as he can while nodding his head in obvious approval of what he's seeing. The small "Oh my god, yes" that he whispers from time to time is the cherry on top of this sci-fi sundae.
The Blonde Jedi:
At the beginning of this video, The Blonde Jedi is us all, anxiously waiting for halftime during Monday Night Football's game so we could watch the new trailer. When it starts, she's frozen in place. Can barely talk, can barely move, and isn't even blinking. It's the excited little laugh of pure happiness at the end, though, that makes the reaction video.
Jeremy Jahns:
Actor and YouTube personality Jeremy Jahns answered hundreds of requests and recorded himself watching the trailer. At first, everything starts off normally. He actually manages to give live commentary as the video begins, comparing the tone of it to the trailer for The Dark Knight Rises. As the trailer continues, however, he can't stop himself from smiling wide and grasping the side of his face in excitement. "I love that tone, I love that trailer," he says at the end, before taking a second to compose himself and give a proper review.
Daisy Ridley:
Star of the actual film, Ridley shared a short video to Instagram of her reacting to watching herself in the new trailer. In bed, she watches almost in disbelief, before giving out a little excited whoop and rubbing her eyes as she gets emotional. "Oh my god, it's amazing," she cries as someone in the background gives out a little laugh.
John Boyega:
Probably the best reaction video to anything ever, John Boyega also uploaded a video of himself to Instagram as he watched the trailer with friends. "Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep yep" he says throughout the entire thing, nodding his head enthusiastically, before completely freaking out at the end and jumping over the back of the sofa he was sitting on.
Lesson learned from all of this: If the cast of Star Wars can freak out over a new trailer, you can too.
The Force Awakens will open in theaters on Dec. 18.
