Toy Soldiers: War Chest, the third installment of Signal Studios' acclaimed action-strategy franchise, will launch on Aug. 11, publisher Ubisoft announced today. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
The standard game is $14.99 and is only available digitally. Four famous toy/game franchises — G.I. Joe; its nemesis Cobra; He-Man and the Masters of the Universe; and Ezio from Assassin's Creed — will guest star as premium downloadable armies, either individually for $4.99 or all four for $14.99. A $29.99 "Hall of Fame" edition, which will also be sold at retail, is available for those who want everything at the outset.
The four standard armies are fictitious but themed to the kinds of things you'd expect to find in the toy chest of kids with active imaginations: Ghost Company, Black Dragon, German Empire and Star Power.
Toy Soldiers: War Chest grew out of Toy Soldiers and Toy Soldiers: Cold War, which Signal Studios released on Xbox Live Arcade in 2010 and 2011. Signal then partnered with Ubisoft to deliver War Chest.
