The first full trailer for the improbably existing Goosebumps movie is here, as if to prove that a concept that sounds insane on paper can actually look pretty decent in practice.
Adapting R.L. Stine's sprawling anthology series of horror novels for young readers into a metatextual movie where Jack Black plays a fictionalized version of the author? Crazy pants. Night at the Museum: The Goosebumps Version? Surprisingly charming.
What it doesn't look like is "particularly scary," but it wouldn't be the first film to pull a genre bait and switch with its trailer. Goosebumps hits theaters on Oct. 16 of this year.
