NHL 17's first promotional video teases new features such as franchise relocation and the World Cup of Hockey for the upcoming edition of EA Sports' long-running hockey franchise.
A sequence showing Halifax, Nova Scotia; Hamilton, Ontario; and Hartford, Connecticut, as city options indicates that the game's franchise mode will allow players to move their clubs to new territories. That is followed by a World Cup of Hockey tournament setup screen involving a pool of eight top international sides.
Arena interiors and jersey customizations also point to new options within NHL 17's Be a GM mode, or perhaps EA Sports Hockey League.
The cover star will be settled by a social media vote among eight candidates from North America and Europe. The most recognizable nominees are the Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn, Edmonton's Connor McDavid and the L.A. Kings veteran Anze Kopitar. More details are available at this link.
A news release said the game would launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A launch date was not given; EA Sports' NHL series typically hits shelves in September.
