Microsoft revokes free copies of Fallout 4 downloaded from Xbox Store
Xbox One owners will still get something for free in the end
On Thursday, Xbox One owners were able to download Fallout 4, its season pass and its expansions for free, thanks to a pricing error on the Xbox Store. Today, Microsoft issued a bit of bad news to those who were able to download Fallout 4 for free: The company is revoking those licenses.
But Xbox One owners who were quick on the download won't walk away empty-handed.
Here's the message the company sent out to some Xbox One owners today:
Our pricing error on Fallout 4 has been fixed and your free download will no longer work. For the inconvenience we will deposit $10 by the end of June in your Microsoft Account. This expires one year from the time it was deposited.
The good news is that Microsoft's $10 credit is enough to cover a legitimately-acquired copy of Fallout 4's Automatron or Wasteland Workshop DLC, if you don't already own it.
