A new clip from John Wick: Chapter 2 has arrived just a few weeks ahead of the movie’s premiere, and fans of The Matrix should be pleased.
In the clip, Laurence Fishburne’s Bowery King is talking to Keanu Reeves’ John Wick about a gun. When the King tells Wick there’s a $7 million bounty on his head, Wick responds that he can either help the assassin get a gun or they can have an all-out war. It’s a short scene that ends with Wick’s “descent into Hell,” but it does mark the first time that Fishburne and Reeves have been on screen together since The Matrix days.
During a New York Comic Con panel in October, Reeves said that Fishburne approached him about joining the franchise after the release of the first movie in 2014. The actor had been aware of the movie since Reeves and director Chad Stahelski started planning it around the time of the The Matrix.
“It was one of those ‘oh really?’ moments where I immediately told Chad that Laurence was interested,” Reeves said.
John Wick: Chapter 2 will also see the debut of Ruby Rose and Common. The movie will be released on Feb. 10.
