Arms, Nintendo’s motion-controlled fighting game, will be released June 16 on Nintendo Switch, the company announced today.
Nintendo made the announcement during a Nintendo Direct presentation, which included a lengthy segment on Arms. It will be the company’s first original project for the Switch since the system’s launch, when 1-2-Switch and Snipperclips - Cut it out, together! debuted.
Last month, Nintendo released a trailer for Arms to show off the game’s colorful cast of characters, as well as the arsenal of weapons at their disposal. It all looks delightfully weird. Today, the company introduced two new characters, Minmin and Spring Man, as well as a two-on-two mode.
Nintendo also announced that it will release a new color for the Joy-Con controllers. The Neon Yellow hue will join the existing Gray, Neon Red and Neon Blue options. Both Joy-Con controllers and straps will be available in Neon Yellow alongside the release of Arms in mid-June. Individual Joy-Con pads cost $49.99, while a pair costs $79.99; one strap sells for $7.99.
